This one works through a raised maze pattern moulded directly into the ceramic base. Instead of a flat surface where a hungry pet can just put their face down and inhale dinner, the ridges force them to work food out from between the raised sections — nosing it around, picking at smaller portions, taking noticeably longer to finish. It's a mechanical solution rather than a behavioural one, which tends to be more reliable than trying to train a fast eater to slow down on willpower alone.
Ceramic earns its place here over plastic for a few practical reasons: it doesn't retain odour the way porous plastic does after repeated washing, it's heavy enough to stay put while an enthusiastic eater pushes it around the floor, and it won't develop the scratches and grooves where bacteria tends to collect over time. The glazed finish cleans easily by hand or in the dishwasher. Care Instructions
Washing: Dishwasher safe, or hand wash with warm water and mild detergent. The glazed surface doesn't hold onto residue the way unglazed ceramic or plastic can.
Daily use: Rinse and dry between meals if switching between wet and dry food to avoid residue build-up in the maze ridges.
Handling: Ceramic is durable but not unbreakable — avoid dropping onto hard flooring.
